198 was Western Wake's primary tanker. It is a 1985 Grumman Firecat based on a Ford C-8000 chassis. 198 ran on most calls requiring a tanker. 198 carried a maximum of 3 people: Driver, Captain and 1 firefighter, all seated in the cab. It has a 1500 gallon tank with a 250 GPM pump. 198 is a dedicated tanker, but also has a single booster reel and an assortment of hose, along with all needed nozzles and appliances. 198 also carries a drop tank. 198 is equipped to handle minor first responder calls carrying a jump bag and oxygen.

Emergency warning devices include: Code 3 light bar and rotary warning lights on the sides of the hose-bed along with red wig-wag lights on the grill. It also carries a Code 3 siren and speaker along with air horns.
