SS-19
Special Services 19 (SS-19) was Wake County's fire fighter rehabilitation unit and was located at Station 1. SS-19 is a retrofitted 1991 Ford F-350 1st Response Ambulance. Western Wake responded with SS-19 to any long term incident in Wake County where firefighter rehabilitation is needed, including: structure fires, search and rescue, RDU Airport incidents or any other mass incidents. SS-19 carried an assortment of crackers and hot/cold beverages. It was also equipped with onboard oxygen and various first aid equipment for treating firefighters. SS-19 has communication equipment which can be used in most surrounding counties.
Emergency warning devices include: A lightbar, and an assortment of other red and white beacons along with built-in spot lights. It also has a Code 3 siren and speaker.
